"I want my 10 pounds of licorice.. no make that 20 pounds"
The Show
Wednesday we took a lot of phone calls, including one from my call-in sports statistics guy, who informed me that Matt Clement was probably hit by a ball, which was traveling at least 20% faster than what he pitched. Luckily the Red Sox pitcher is doing all right. We gave away, much too her surprise, and luckily she was all right with it, copies of Liz’s book, “Ditched by Dr. Right”, by Elizabeth Warner. We tried to locate the guy who promised us 10 lbs. of licorice. We gave the magazine, Fran, our blessings on their plan to do an article about their planned experiences, tripping on Mescalin Tea in Tijuana. We learned that the Steel Wheels Rolling Stones tour took place in 1989. Our guest is a Mets fan, and was part of the New York City Hardcore Punk Rock scene of the mid 80s, so I was anxious to meet him, as opposed to being a Yankees fan, and part of the Christian Polka scene of the late 70s, I would simply have no interest.
The Guests
Marcos Siega, a filmmaker (director), whose first movies are coming out this month and next month. “Pretty Persuasion” on August 12 and “The Underclassman” sometime in September. He has directed videos for Weezer, Blink 182, Pete Yorn, Kelly Osbourne, and Jurassic 5, and was a very nice guy. He promised to allow me to be “bartender #2” in his next film. Really enjoyed talking with Marcos. Surf Junkie Jeff phoned from his surfing event. He’s very excited to be there “like a kid in a licorice store”.

Trac
1) Band name, song name, seemed to make sense.
2) Played this because I really like this song. Learned it was a well-known hit in England but not here. The opposite of the song I played yesterday, “Wildfire”.
( SM It was a big hit as a remake for The Fall in the UK )
3) Used to be, and may still be my favorite from these folks.
4) PRM.
5) Love the tongue roll noise in this song, always have, it’s one of my earliest musical memories.
6) Purchased an interesting box set yesterday that we’re all really excited about. Liz picked this song.
7) Five thousand people requested this song yesterday.
8) Felt like some classic rock.
9) Steel Wheels Tour 1989, not ’83.
10) Local band Chuck hipped me up to a few months back.
11) Nicely tempoed from his first.
12) For Dave in Sales.
13) Might send him on the Tijuana trip.
14) This is from their multi-tracked release.
15) By request for someone on THE 10.
16) A comedian’s request.
17) We went a little deeper.
18), 19), 20) Our guest’s request.
21) I love playing this guy’s recordings.
22) My pick. California born and raised beach boys.
23) Powerful, popular, late 70s new-wave band.
24) We’ve had them on the show. Nice sounding blue grass song.
25) I like this by them.
26) Alexis’s birthday.
Thank you, Dicky.
