Thur June 30

The Show
Everything ran really well today. My phone interview called a bit early which made it less awkward when my in studio guest arrived. Chuck, Liz, and I were all wide-eyed and excited about the in studio guest and that may have been obvious when we were on the mics.

The Guests
Kim Necroman of the Necromantix and the Horrorpops called us from Utah. He’s on the road right now with the Necromantix and heading towards California where he will play the Hootenanny Festival in Irvine, CA July 2 with Social Distortion, Link Wray, Necromantix, Junior Brown, Cadillac Tramps, Throw Rag, Lee Rocker, and James Intveld. I really appreciated the call. The legendary Dave Wakeling from the English Beat and General Public arrived in the studio with his acoustic guitar case in hand. He was a very gracious and sweet guest answering questions and calls from the listeners as well as all of us at the MightyMorningShow and he also entertained us with a couple of acoustic versions of songs he wrote.

The Songs
1 D.O.A.- The Prisoner
2 Gun Hill Road- Back When My Hair Was Short
3 The Ordinary Boys- Boys Will Be Boys
4 Misfits- London Dungeon
5 Bo Donaldson & The Haywoods- Who Do You Think You Are
6 Dressy Bessy- Electrified
7 Horrorpops- Where They Wander
8 Necromantix- World of Dust

18 Dave Wakeling- Click Click (live
19 English Beat- I Confess
20 Tsunami Bomb- Negative One to Ten
21 The Living End- Short Notice
22 Melaine- Lay Down (Candles in the Rain)

Trac 1 started off the show with a Canadian band because my in-laws from Canada are in town.
Then played a song I remember really clearly from my childhood, an almost Dr. Demento-like early 70s disaster about hippies and the “long and short hair issue” that was so prevalent at the time. But ultimately the song is about love.
Then I played the song I am crazy about from a band I'm crazy about. Today I found out I was not the first person to play this band; both Passport Approved and Jonesy have played them before me (damn). I also learned Ranking Rogers's son is in this band.
Played trac 4 because of PRM. I love this band.
5 is another 70s slice of my memory.
6- Dick's pick.
7 and 8 Kim called.
9 always loved this song.
10 by request, classic LA punk. We tried to edit "fuck" out of the song on the fly and we removed it and a three second portion of the tune, oh well. Thank you FCC.
Trac 11 I like the line in this one that goes “I celebrate my love for you with a pint of brew and a new tattoo”.
12 hit this because I was nervous at the arrival of our very special guest, Dave Wakeling.
13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19 guess who?
16 and 18 were beautiful live acoustic versions.
20 ran the Warped Tour contest and M from Tsunami Bomb was the mystery Warped Tour guest.
21 played for Dave. Amy sent me this song and reminded me of its greatness. I think the choruses are close to pop perfection.
22 felt really good about the show and wanted to go out big. Thank y

The Show
A lot of fun, I laughed really hard. My guest was hysterical. Gave away Warp Tour tickets using recorded Go Betty Go contest plus we located Lisa who wrote to us requesting a tattoo. She has a very rare disease and she's a big fan of the show. An extended letter from her led me to believe getting a tattoo on one of our tattoosday shows would be very special to her. So that might happen next week.

The Guests
Mike O'Malley. He's from New Hampshire and he's on the television show, "Yes Dear", as well as in the movie, "The Perfect Man" with Hilary Duff. Huge music fan. Loves Buffalo Tom and a lot of different Boston rock 'n roll. We had so much fun.

Song List
1 Rev Horton Heat- Going Back Home
2 Bowling for Soup- Ohio
3 Asleep at the Wheel- You're from Texas
4 Pavement- Cut your Hair
5 Don Mclean- The Grave
6 The Stranglers- No More Heroes
7 Foo Fighters- No Way Back
8 The Jam- A Town Called Malice
9 Style Council- My Ever Changing Mood
10 Buffalo Tom- Soda Jerk
11 Buffalo Tom- Bottom of the Rain
12 Dinosaur Junior- Repulsion
13 No Use for Name- For Fiona
14 Madness- Shame and Scandal
15 Bedouin Sound Clash- When the Night Feels My Song
16 Go Betty Go- C'mon
17 Broken Remotes- Arms Held Aloft
18 The Ordinary Boys- The Boys Will be Boys
19 Dressy Bessy- Electrified
20 Hall & Oats- Rich Girl
21 The Specials- Hey Little Rich Girl
22 Wings- Band on the Run

In honor of W's speech last night, I kicked the show off with a Texas block, tracs 1-3.
Trac 4 was because Steve Malkimus was mentioned in PRM.
5 was to continue the W theme.
Trac 7- a little new school. 8 and 9 a nod to Weller. Mike showed up and wanted to get his BT on. 10 and 11.
11 has not been released or ever played on the radio.
12 was a request from yesterday.
13 to 16 we were on Warp Tour tear.
17- O'Malley's pal is in this band.
18 will be next week's Dick's Pick. I love this song and can't wait to hear the entire album. I own it but it didn't play in my Prius stereo yesterday. I might return to Amoeba.
19- this week's Dick's Pick.
20 and 21 a "Little Rich Girl" 2fer.
22- both me and Mike O'Malley loved the Wings so that's why we closed with it.
